Then Name of the Game is Death/One Endless Hour

Grind Joint
by Dana King

The debut print novel of one of the brightest new talents you'll discover this season. The book launch at Laurie Stephens' Mystery Lovers Bookshop was a wonderful event, complete with surprise special guest appearance by New Jersey favorite son Charlie Stella. Read Dana's heartfelt recounting of the day at his wonderful blog, One Bite at a Time.

It's all good. The town, the cops, and the characters are all so well drawn that it's hard to stop reading. --Bill Crider, author of Compound Murder

Hello, Everyone—

It's that time:

Holiday season is upon us and we hope each and every one of you is enjoying the excitement and the beauty, be it the weather (sun, snow or in-bewtween) or family time or shopping frenzies, or just good food, that this time of year brings.

Last year at this time we offered a Black Friday-type holiday sale. Guess what? We're going to do the same thing again. Only different.

But first....

An astute newsletter subscriber pointed out that the links from the newsletter are inactive in their e-mail inbox. This is sad news as every link, including all the graphic images, works when viewed as a web page. Our crack tech staff is often busy doing anything but although in the meantime, in case you're not aware, all of the newsletters are posted as web pages here in a magical place where all the links work as they should. This may not be as convenient as clicking through the e-mail version, and we apologize, and we'll do something to get this straightened out in the meantime.

Definite apologies to everyone suffering "mouse rage" on links and images that don't do anything when you click on them. Put. The. Mouse. Down. Everything will be okay.

Here's the skinny: last year, we offered a buy 2, get 1 free sale--this year we're making it better and simpler: all back list titles 40%off, now through December 13th. That gives you TWO WEEKS to figure out what you need to fill out your Stark House collection or to gift buy for your family and friends. And to sweeten the pot we'll even put into effect the "Holiday shipping rate": $2.75 for the first book, a mere .50 per each additional. Lovingly packaged in genuine corrugated cardboard. Way more holiday than a padded envelope. Billing will be through PayPal, just like we do with regular Crime Club shipments.

Just send an e-mail with your want list or any questions and we'll get you taken care of....

We're putting the finishing touches on a slew of fine books, the first of which:

Charles Williams

is this pair of classics by Charles Williams, followed by a previously unpublished gem by new favorite Jada Davis called Midnight Road, then a sterling pair by Clifton Adams, a man best-known for his western writing but equally adept at his crime writing. And then we have a disquieting duo by the master Gil Brewer, followed by two of the offbeat and brilliantly plotted novels of John Trinian. More on these next time.

For now, get out those Christmas lists and take advantage of the Noir Friday Holiday Sale. C'mon, how many appliances do you really need? Bookshelves get lonely, too.

If you wish to get our latest releases still warm from the printer's presses, you can always sign up for our Crime Book Club and take advantage of discounts and deals on back list titles for new members.

And if you wish to subscribe or even unsubscribe to this newsletter, drop us an e-mail and we’ll make it happen.
